Kuthur

Today I am going to write some about this little village. Del and I go walking in the evening. There is a short time from when the day gets and little cooler and pitch black. We walk around looking at things and taking pictures. The kids always come running and say "hellohowareyou" and "whatisyourname?" Also "photo, photo"

We have found a Common Service Center that has one computer with a good connection and a printer. Also a great ceiling fan. So we walk down here. There is one older gentleman that has shown us his very neat banana plant garden. Everytime he sees us, he gives us something, a banana or a beautiful red flower.

Yesterday, on our way here a family invited us to sit on the porch of their hovel. They gave us a bottle of very sweet orange pop. The little girl, about one year, was wearing only a bell on a string around her waist. All we could do was to drink the pop and smile.

It the people can speak any English, they greet us and try to talk...mostly with Del.

Now, for water news. The molds, all five, are here. Del is pouring a mold right now. I hope that they are going to start to produce some water filters. Actually, they have made 5. One filter is set up and we are drinking the water from it!!

I think that tomorrow we are going to Grandigram with 2 of the stell molds. Now, you understand, that is what I think may happen..may there is a 50% chance that I understood what we are going to do!! I'll let you know. Suzanne

WATER TO DRINK

Here at LAFTI there is a water jug with a tin cup sitting on the clay lid. Everyone uses the cup, but no lips ever touch the cup. Somehow everyone manages to pour the water into their mouth. Del just chokes when he tried to do it...and I don't try.

We are still waiting for the steel molds. We recieved an e mail from CWAST in Candada and they want to come and check out the opperation. Maybe it will be all together by the time they get here. One can only hope.

Del's sores on his feet did get infected..but he is soaking them and keeping bandages on them (I'm sure you really want to know that)

Well, a short posting for today. I think the young man who owns this computer can help me put on pictures. I'll try tomorrow Suzanne

First try||

Monday..and the phone and inter net are both working.
We are here in India teaching how to build a bio sand water filters. I teach the classes on sanitation and hygene.
People are very friendly, but very few know English. We have been trying to take a walk in the evening...but the time between when it is a little cooler and total darkness is not very long. As we walk, the children all come running, yelling "photo" The other night we took a picture of a group of kids and walked on. On the way back, they had gathered a few friends and were banging on pots and pans...I guess a little band. They were excited to play for us...and of course wanted us to take another picture.
Food is of course different. I had some reaction (face swelling) to something...so I am trying to eat simple foods that I eat in the states. This may sound simple, but many different people cook for us and each one trys to outdo the others in cooking. Del is putting on a few pounds (they love to heap his plate with food)

I will try to write more about our adventures.
